Continuing Education Credits Policy

1. Overview

EcoClaim provides Continuing Education (CE) credits to ensure that professionals stay current with industry practices and sustainability standards. These credits are necessary for maintaining EcoClaim certification and must be earned every two years.

2. Eligibility and Requirements

To maintain EcoClaim certification, all registered participants must:

  • Pay Annual Certification Dues:
    Participants are required to pay individual certification dues annually.
  • Submit CE Credits Every Two Years:
    Participants must earn and submit 2 hours of CE credits every two years.

3. Qualification Requirements for CE Credits

To qualify for CE credits, participants have the following options:

  • EcoClaim Courses:
    • Complete courses provided by EcoClaim, which will automatically extend CE credits.
  • Industry Training or Events:
    • Participate in other recognized industry training or events that pertain to sustainability.
    • Submit documentation of participation, including the title of the event, provider name, date, and duration of the event.

4. Detailed Criteria for Accepted CE Activities

  • EcoClaim Courses:
    • Courses specifically designed for sustainability and waste diversion by EcoClaim.
  • Industry Training Courses:
    • Courses offered by recognized industry organizations or educational institutions related to sustainability, environmental management, or waste diversion.
  • Seminars and Webinars:
    • Live or recorded seminars and webinars focused on sustainability, environmental practices, or industry-specific environmental issues.
  • Workshops:
    • Interactive workshops providing hands-on training in sustainability practices or environmental management.
  • Conferences and Trade Shows:
    • Attendance at industry conferences or trade shows that include sessions on sustainability or environmental topics.
  • Publications and Research:
    • Authoring or contributing to publications, research papers, or articles on sustainability or environmental practices.
  • Professional Association Meetings:
    • Participation in meetings or events held by professional associations with a focus on sustainability.

5. Documentation Requirements

  • Completion Certificates:
    • Certificates from the course provider indicating the name of the participant, title of the course, date(s) of attendance, and number of hours completed.
  • Event Attendance Proof:
    • For seminars, webinars, workshops, conferences, or trade shows, participants must provide proof of attendance, which can include:
      • Registration confirmation.
      • Event badge.
      • Attendance certificate.
      • Agenda or schedule of the event highlighting the relevant sessions attended.
  • Publications and Research:
    • Copy of the publication or research paper, or a link to the published work.
    • Documentation indicating the participant’s contribution (e.g., co-author acknowledgment).
  • Professional Association Meetings:
    • Meeting minutes or a letter from the association confirming attendance and participation.

6. Submission Process

  • Online Form:
    • Participants must complete an online form on the EcoClaim website to apply for CE credits. The form should include fields for:
      • Participant’s name and EcoClaim certification number.
      • Title and description of the activity.
      • Date(s) of participation.
      • Number of hours earned.
      • Upload section for supporting documentation (certificates, proof of attendance, etc.).
  • Review and Verification:
    • EcoClaim will review the submitted documentation to verify the legitimacy and relevance of the CE activity.
    • Participants will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their submitted CE credits within a specified timeframe (e.g., 30 days).

7. Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of participants to:

  • Track and Submit CE Credits:
    • Keep track of their earned CE credits.
    • Submit CE credits to EcoClaim for verification using the provided form on the EcoClaim website.
    • Ensure that certificates of completion and other documentation are accurately recorded and maintained.

8. Tracking and Record Keeping

EcoClaim is responsible for:

  • Tracking CE Credits:
    • Tracking courses completed by participants.
    • Maintaining records of certificates and documentation submitted by participants.
  • CE Credits Submission Form:
    • Providing a form on the EcoClaim website for participants to apply for CE credits and upload necessary documentation of participation.

9. Annual Certification Dues

Participants must pay annual individual certification dues to maintain their EcoClaim certification.

This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards

Part Two - Receiving Continuing Education (CE) Credits from External Providers for EcoClaim Courses

1. Overview

By participating in EcoClaim-approved courses, you can fulfill CE credits that are recognized across multiple industry certifications beyond EcoClaim. This policy ensures that your professional development is comprehensive, keeping you up to date with industry standards and sustainability practices while offering the flexibility to apply these credits towards other recognized certifications in your field.

2. Eligibility

Alberta – Canadian Insurance Participant Registry (CIPR):

  • Individuals with a CIPR number are eligible to earn CE credits.
  • CE credits obtained are valid for a period of 2 years.

 

British Columbia – Insurance Council of BC:

  • Individuals registered with the Insurance Council of BC can earn CE credits.
  • CE credits obtained are valid for a period of 3 years.

 

IICRC – Globally Recognized:

  • Holders of an IICRC technician number are eligible to earn CE credits.
  • CE credits obtained through IICRC courses are valid for a period of 3 years.

3. Qualification Requirements

To qualify for CE credits, participants must:
  • Complete the EcoDivert and/or EcoAware courses with a 100% attendance rate.
  • Pass the associated exam(s) following course completion.

Upon successful completion of the course(s), participants will receive a certificate indicating their CIPR/license/technician number and the date of completion.

4. Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of participants to:

  • Provide EcoClaim with their Continuing Education number (CIPR For Alberta, Insurance Council of BC for British Columbia, or IICRC for globally recognized certification.)
  • Register their earned CE credits with their respective regulatory body.
  • Ensure that certificates of completion, including relevant identification numbers, are accurately recorded and maintained.

5. Tracking and Record Keeping

EcoClaim is responsible for:

  • Tracking courses completed by participants.
  • Maintaining records of certificates awarded to participants.

6. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
